Merry Christmas;
Frohe Weihnachten und ein gutes neues Jahr!
German Christmases are very similiar to American ones, they just do everything on a much smaller scale. The buildup is definitely less suspenseful and the whole christmas season passed without a big swell of excitement. It was a nice change of pace actually. We didn’t put up our Christmas tree (Tannenbaum) until the day before and I was slightly...
so viel schnee;
Sooo much snow!
All the germans told me that white christmases in my area are unheard of, but there are only 4 days until Christmas so it’s looking like a real possiblity. I don’t think I’ve been this excited for something in a long time ha.
well, it’s a lovely Sunday and my plans today consist of staying in my sweats, packing, and baking christmas cookies. Oh, and of...

Also, he agrees with Bush’s...
Slow but Steady;
So, a few days ago my family and I were watching TV and I was also writing a letter to my friend, when this movie came on. Without really thinking about it, I started paying attention and low and behold, I UNDERSTOOD!

-Advent candles (Every sunday during the 4 weeks before christmas, one candle is lit)
-Advent calendars (I know we have these in the US, but it’s a much bigger deal here)

BRANDENBURG!! I’M SO BEYOND EXCITED!!
In the city of Brandenburg, there’s a huge parade for Saint Nikolas’ Day and AFS has it’s own float. We get to wear costumes and sing songs and even get an award on stage. Almost all of the Koln committee is going! Plus AFS from all over Germany. So many new people to meet :)
The plan is this:
